An explanation of Edit Mode

Think you have what it takes to make a good step chart? In Edit Mode, you can build your own step charts to create endless amounts of game play possibilities.

The main menu of Edit Mode presents you with four options. Selecting "Edit Steps" will allow you to create a new step chart or edit an existing step chart for any song in the game. The next three options are for transferring your own step charts to or from a USB Flash Drive. This allows you to play your edited step charts in the arcade!

The main menu for creating a new step chart displays the following information:

Group: Choose the group of songs you want to select from.
Song
: Choose which song you want to edit.
Type:
Choose the type of steps that you want to edit (Single or Double).
Steps:
Choose the steps you want to edit. Select "New Edit" to create a brand new step chart.
Fill Type: Choose the type of steps that you want to fill into a new edit (Single or Double).
Fill Steps: Choose the existing steps that you would like to fill into a new edit. Choose "Edit" to create a new edit with no initial steps.
Action: Choose the action to perform using the values selected above.

Once you have chosen the options you want, press ENTER or the START button on your dance pad to enter a name for this step chart, then press ENTER or the START button on your dance pad once more to proceed to the Editor.

The Editor

 

This is where you create your own step chart or make edits to an existing step chart. Press F1 on this screen to see a list of commands to help you through your step chart creation process.

1: Insert or remove a left arrow at the current beat.
2: Insert or remove a down arrow at the current beat.
3: Insert or remove an up arrow at the current beat.
4: Insert or remove a right arrow at the current beat.
Up / Down: Move the current beat up / down.
Left / Right: Scroll between the type of notes to snap to (4th, 8th, 12th, etc).
(#1-4) + Down: Insert a hold arrow while holding down the corresponding number.


PgUp / PgDn: Jump to the next / previous measure.
Home / End: Jump to the first / last beat.
Ctrl + Up / Down: Zoom in / out.
Shift + Up / Down: Drag the area marker up / down.
P: Play the current selection to test your steps.
Ctrl + P: Play the whole song.
Shift + P: Play from the current beat to the end of the song.
Ctrl + R: Record a step chart on the fly.
F4: Toggle the assist tick.
Insert: Insert a beat at the current position and shift all the arrows down one beat.
Delete: Delete a beat at the current position and shift all the arrows up one beat.
Shift + (#1-4): Insert a mine.
Alt + (#1-4): Add to / remove from the right half.


 


Edit Menu

 

Press ESC to access the Edit Menu. This menu is useful when you are nearing the completion of your edit.

Steps Information: Change the name and difficulty of your edit.
Play Whole Song: Play the song from the beginning to end.
Play Current Beat to End: Play from the current beat to the end of the song.
Save: Save your edit.
Revert to Last Save: Go back to how your edit was before you last saved it.
Options: Takes you to the Game Options screen.
Exit: Exit Edit Mode. This loses all of the changes you've currently made to the edit, unless you've saved your edits first.
